Harvest Runs on Two Things: Diesel and Propane
When the combine is rolling and the dryer is running, the last thing you want to think about is where the next load of fuel is coming from. Here's how to get ahead of both.
Harvest is the shortest, most expensive window of the year. Every hour the equipment sits still costs money, and the weather has never once waited for anybody.

Grain Drying Takes More Propane Than You Think
A wet fall changes your propane math in a hurry. A dryer running steady will pull down a farm tank at a rate that has nothing to do with what you burned all summer, and a tank sized for the house is not a tank sized for a dryer.
Two things worth doing before you need them:
- Check your tank level now, while the schedule is still calm.
- Tell us you're planning to dry, so we know your demand is about to spike.
- Ask whether your tank size fits your dryer's draw — we offer 500- and 1000-gallon tanks to buy or lease.
Everybody in the county needs propane the same wet week. A heads-up before harvest is worth more than a phone call during it.
Keeping the Combine Fed
On the diesel side, we deliver clear and dyed diesel right to your farm tanks, along with premium 91 no-ethanol and 87 E10 gasoline. Our minimum delivery is 200 gallons, and orders generally take about five days — so build that into your planning.
Order 200 gallons or more and there's a $0.10 per gallon cash discount on the load.
We also carry DEF in drums and totes, plus the full Cenex lubricant line including Maxtron synthetics for the equipment that's about to work harder than it has all year.
A Simple Pre-Harvest Pass
Walk the yard once with a notepad before the first field is ready:
- Read every fuel tank and every propane tank on the place.
- Total what harvest and drying will realistically take.
- Place one order that covers it instead of four that don't.
- Ask about Keep Full so the propane side handles itself.
It takes twenty minutes in September and saves you a very bad afternoon in October.
